FAQ
What is Microblading? Microblading is a form of semi-permanent cosmetic tattooing meant to mimic the appearance of natural brow hair. This is done using a tiny disposable micro blade to implant colored pigment into the epidermis layer of the skin. Microblading does not implant pigment as deeply as a standard tattoo, hence the color will gently fade with time.
What is the difference between microblading, powder brows and nano brows? Microblading uses a tiny multi needle blade to implant pigment into the epidermis layer. Powder brows are completed using a tattoo machine to add fine hair strokes, shading and coloring to mimic the use of brow powder. This creates a bold look and is best for clients who love a heavier brow appearance. Nano brows are achieved also with the tattoo machine but create a softer, more natural brow look. Some soft shading in the center and edges helps to define shape without an artificial look.
Will the procedure hurt? Some people report feeling some slight discomfort during the procedure, mainly a light scratching sensation. We use a numbing cream prior to beginning and reapply as needed for your comfort.
How is the new shape of my brows determined? We will ask you for pictures of your brows made up as well as pictures of brows you like. We work closely with your natural shape and bone structure to enhance your natural beauty. We take our time to meticulously map your brows prior to your procedure. You will be actively involved in approving the shape and look you desire.
FAQ con’t
Who is not a good candidate for microblading? Pregnant or nursing mothers, anyone with any skin conditions near the eyebrows such as eczema, shingles or rashes, anyone with continued use of accutane, retinol, or skin peeling acids, anyone with autoimmune disease such as lupus, celiac disease, rheumatoid arthritis or Hashimoto’s, anyone with allergies to cosmetics or pigments, currently taking blood thinners or anyone with transmittable blood conditions like HIV or hepatitis.
What if I’ve had Botox? Having previous Botox does not disqualify you from service, but you should refrain from any injectables including botox or fillers for 4 weeks prior to your appointment.
What do I need to know before I arrive for my microblading appointment? Please wash your hair prior to your appointment. You will not be able to get your brows wet for 7 days. Do not wear brow make up for at least a week. Do not pick at scabbing or itch the eyebrow area during healing. Avoid saunas, swimming and excessive sweating until the area is completely healed and you have your follow-up appointment.
How do I care for my brows after the appointment? You will be given written aftercare instructions after your appointment. Following them accurately will help ensure a clean healing process and good pigmentation saturation. Your brows will initially look darker in the first few days after your procedure. Don’t panic, they will mellow as they heal. Keep your new brows out of the sun by wearing a hat until your follow up appointment.
